The Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) offers a framework of project support through its small central secretariat and network of local WUN coordinators. WUN does not fund research projects directly, but offers development or 'seed funding' for selected collaborations which demonstrate potential in the longer term to become self-sustaining and deliver benefits to the WUN partners.
How to apply to to the WUN Central Research Development Fund
WUN sets aside funds each year to conduct the WUN Research Development Fund (WUN RDF). The WUN RDF offers seed grants of up to £10,000 to support research collaborations among WUN members. To be eligible, a research collaboration must include a minimum of three WUN members.
Applications are assessed on a number of criteria including objectives, teamwork, WUN advantage, breadth of Impact and sustainability.

RDF funds may support exploratory research initiatives, targeted workshops, faculty exchanges and the formation of collaborative networks, among other activities.
Applications that incorporate a research mobility component for early career researchers and postgraduate students are encouraged.
Each WUN member can submit a maximum of 2 applications (as lead university) per year.
The WUN RDF is announced annually, usually in early August, with a deadline of early November. Funding is dispensed in January of each year. Awardees have 12-months to expend their funding.
WUN RDF is announced annually, usually in early August, and deadline for submission applications in October. Result of RDF will be announced in December. Internal deadlines at many member universities will be earlier. For successful applicants, award funds will be deposited in February. Awarded funds should be expended within 12 months. Funds unspent at the conclusion of the 12-month award period may be recalled by WUN.
Applications from staff and students at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) are welcome from all academic areas. To discuss support for working with our WUN partners, please contact the NCKU WUN Coordinators.
